Here is the opening to my column about Tim Lincecum’s Saturday start against the Houston Astros:

SAN FRANCISCO

When the worst pitcher in baseball takes on the worst team in baseball, something’s got to give. The worst team gave.

You get the point. Giants starting pitcher Tim Lincecum had the worst earned run average of anyone who counted, and the Houston Astros, who really don’t count, had the worst record in the majors. And Lincecum shut them out over eight innings before coming out of the game.

Santiago Casilla blew the save after that. What’s going on with Casilla is a whole other story, blissfully not related to the subject matter of this column. The Giants won 3-2 in 12 innings, but Lincecum didn’t get the decision.

Timmy wasn’t aware he lost too much weight, and now he says he wasn’t aware (his dad might have read it was-I bet) it was a do or die game for him. WHO has been posting that this guy is in denial and or wont tell you the truth?
Its not easy to understand or believe somebody who in public says that 5 fair to good starts vs 16 or 17 bad starts isn’t a problem.

That last should have said that 4 good starts vs 16 starts is caused by a specific problem he wont admit too. I know he’s said weak link and needing to be a bulldog, etc.

…meanwhile, the bearded one is hangin’ with Chewbacca at the Espys.
    .
    At least Timmy’s not a mockery…yet.
    .
Good outing over eight innings even if it was against the lowly Astros.
    .
    It’s something to build on.

I said give Tim a start against Houston ,and if he does well then give him another. This Philly game coming up will determine if he stays or gets sent down to the minors.

Today Lowell on the Giants pre game BANG blog I wrote that ” Its 66f and that means 7 innings for Lincecum and 2 or 3 runs”..I wrote THAT. He went 7 and gave up 2. So, my 2 or 3 is pretty close to 2.

    I KNOW Lincecum.
