This is a different kind of Barry Zito question, so please bear with me.

The question: Do you feel sorry for Barry Zito?

I know it sounds stupid. He’s a multi-millionaire and he’s set for life. You and I should have it so good.

So, sure, in this context it’s a stupid question.

But — and this is a big one — he has been publicly humiliated more than once. They kept him off the postseason roster last year, and now, I believe, they told him his foot hurts and he needs to go on the DL. However that came down it’s clear the Giants don’t need him, almost surely don’t want him, and all this is public. If this were happening to me I’d end up in the loony bin.

I don’t know Zito personally and I don’t know how he’s taking all this but, yes, I feel sorry for the guy.
