Lots of comments this morning condemning Brian Sabean. Slow down, please.

We are in what I call the culture of blame — I am part of that culture, but let’s step back from it for a moment.

Do we blame Sabean and call him a flop as a GM?

He won the world series.

He got his team to the world series in 2002.

He has the Giants playing meaningful games in Sept.

His team was in first place a long time.

He overcame serious injuries and kept the Giants a contender.

He acted swiftly and got two good players Keppinger and Beltran to improve the hitting. He failed but he tried. And please dump the argument he messed with the chemistry by bringing in Beltran. The chemistry argument is bogus. He needed a hitter and he went out and got one.

You blame him for Zito. Are you sure he was the driving force behind Zito?

Instead of blaming Sabean you should thank him for dramatic and thrilling baseball the past 2 seasons.
