I’m out here at the O.Co Coliseum for the A’s Opening Night game against Seattle. I’ll be writing my Saturday column about the game. When the A’s finished batting practice I walked over to their clubhouse to talk to some players — Jonny Gomes, for sure. But the guard at the door informed me something I should have remembered. From now on, access to the home clubhouse ends when the team goes out for batting practice. So I didn’t get in, although I had been in before BP.

This, frankly, is sensible. There’s enough time to do journalism business before BP. And the A’s players are certainly available. I’m a little concerned about the lessened access with the Giants players who tend not to be as accommodating. I’ll let you know how it goes starting a week from now.
