I am writing in praise of Tim Lincecum, the man. After he pitched poorly on Sunday he showered and dressed and met the media at his locker. It is difficult for a starting pitcher to talk after he hasn’t done well. Some are rude when they talk. Lincecum was a gentleman. He was patient and humble and spoke at length and admitted he isn’t doing well.

He was everything you want a stand-up guy to be.

Let me put this another way. He was an adult working through an adult, real-life problem.

I try not to call him Timmy. Timmy makes him sound like a child or a cute mascot. He is Tim.
